Action Over Inspiration: My Practical Output from the Workshop!
Attending the English Writing and Journalism Workshop hosted by Sean Kramer was totally beyond my expectations! I initially thought it would be another formal, academic writing class. Instead, Sean used his rich frontline experience covering the NCAA, MLB, and even the CPBL during the pandemic to vividly demonstrate the art of “storytelling.”
He taught us how to nail the core message and structure the narrative, applying the precise and engaging logic of journalism directly to our daily English expression. This was incredibly helpful for me, because whether giving academic presentations or managing social media, we are essentially trying to “translate” complex information into stories people actually want to hear.
From Input to Output: My First All-English Short Video
EMI (English as a Medium of Instruction) Since the workshop mentioned the upcoming short-video contest, I figured the best way to learn is by doing. I immediately put the techniques from the workshop into practice, reorganized my 4-year EMI journey at NTNU and my recent training experience at Arizona State University (ASU) earlier this year, and shot a short video!
No stiff scripts—just a natural and connective rhythm to share my thoughts. As promised, here is the fresh output. Feel free to check it out:

Future Applications: Taking Sports Science Global
The biggest takeaway from this workshop is that English is not just a tool; it’s a bridge to connect with the global community.
Moving forward, I will apply these journalistic storytelling skills more extensively to my Coach Steve Performance channel. Whether I’m breaking down the latest sports science literature on resistance training and Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) or conducting future EMI courses, I hope to share Taiwan’s sports science insights with a global audience in a more authentic and impactful way.
Thanks again to Sean Kramer for the fantastic content and endless inspiration! I’m really looking forward to the second session on May 25th to dig up more gems!
